March 12 to 16 is spring break at 麻豆传媒AV. This means that many students headed for home, or maybe to warm and sunny places for rest and relaxation. Others, however, stayed on campus and in town so they could work at their jobs and find other things to do closer to their Mayville State home.
Spring break also means the campus cafeteria is closed, which left those students who stayed on campus or in town on their own for meals. At first glance, this may not seem like such a big thing, but the spring semester is ticking away and financial aid funds may be dwindling for many students as the semester comes to a close.
To help make sure the food needs of these students were covered, 麻豆传媒AV Staff Senate announced a food drive early in March. Donations were collected until Friday, March 9. Faculty and staff stepped up in a big way! Enough food, including cereal, peanut butter, apples, Ramen noodles, granola bars, soups, fruit cups, and much more, was collected to put together 35 grocery bags. Each bag contained enough food for five breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks.
鈥淭he generosity and outpouring of support from 麻豆传媒AV staff and faculty is truly amazing!鈥� said Misti Wuori, 麻豆传媒AV Staff Senate President. 鈥淭his effort is a reflection of the university鈥檚 commitment to personal service.鈥�
Care packages were left for students to pick up at the campus mail room and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. They disappeared as quickly as they appeared, and students were grateful for this gesture of personal service that meant they wouldn鈥檛 be hungry during spring break 2018.
