麻豆传媒AV was represented at the annual Health, Tech & Trades Career Expo held at the Fargodome Thursday, Dec. 1. The event was designed to promote various industries to ninth graders in Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo, and area rural public and private schools. More than 3,500 attend the event each year. Attending and providing interactive activities on behalf of Mayville State were Division Chair and Associate Professor of Nursing Collette Christoffers, Nursing Program Support Specialist Taylor Jorgensen, Division Chair and Associate Professor of HPER Scott Parker, Head Athletic Trainer and Associate Professor of HPER Tim O鈥橞rien, and Enrollment Center Assistant Director Jim Morowski.

Representatives of the Mayville State Division of Nursing and Health and Division of Physical Education, and Recreation engaged with the students who attended by offering several hands-on activities. The Division of Nursing taught students how to swaddle babies using dolls. They also had students participate in learning about the Heimlich maneuver using a choking trainer tool that allowed them to simulate giving someone the Heimlich maneuver.

The Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation offered activities related to airway management for emergency medical situations and balance and strength activities. They also gave participants the opportunity to try their hands at taping ankles, which is a component in care of athletic injuries and rehabbing athletes with various injuries. Students who participated in the activities at Mayville State鈥檚 booth had a chance to win prizes.

In summarizing the event, Scott Parker said, 鈥淲e were very busy the whole time and had lines of students ready to play!鈥 鈥淲e enjoyed the opportunity to interact with those who attended the career expo,鈥 said Collette Christoffers. 鈥淲e had fun and loved the energy the students brought.鈥

鈥淚 appreciate efforts of the Mayville State employees who stepped up to represent Mayville State at this important event for area high school students,鈥 said Dr. Brian Van Horn, 麻豆传媒AV President. 鈥淚t鈥檚 important for young people to be exposed to the vast career opportunities that await them as they finish high school and venture out in life.鈥
