Dr. Michael Kjelland, assistant professor of biology at 麻豆传媒AV, gave two presentations at the First International Reproduction Symposium - Update on the Use of Bovine Assisted Reproductive Techniques held April 1 and 2 in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Presenters from several institutions and countries, including University of Saskatchewan, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Universidad Autonoma de Neuvo Leon, Union Ganadera Regional de Tampaulipas, Universidad Federal de Lavras Brasil, ABS, Mexico, Universidad Regiomontana, and Universidad Veracruzana, participated.

鈥淎lthough it had to be a quick trip, I enjoyed the opportunity to give a couple of presentations and interact with the folks at Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon,鈥 said Dr. Kjelland. 鈥淚 look forward to taking part in more opportunities with Dr. M.C. Nelson Manzanares Miranda, director of the Center for Biological and Agricultural Research and Production faculty at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, and others at UANL. Aside from meeting many wonderful students, ranchers, faculty, and staff, I was also able to meet a special bull, more specifically the 2017 Simbrah 鈥 Champion of the World.鈥

Dr. Kjelland鈥檚 first presentation was titled 鈥淭echniques for Improving the Quality of Frozen Semen.鈥 The second was 鈥淓mbryo Assisted Reproduction Techniques (intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), embryo bipartition and cloning).鈥

Kjelland joined the faculty at 麻豆传媒AV in August 2018. Prior to being at Mayville State, he worked for the U.S. Army Engineer Research Development Center and Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb. His research interests include biology, ecology, natural resources management, animal science, and reproductive science, among others.
