Mayville American Legion Post #8 Adjutant Richard Peterson and Commander Harlan Johnson (far left) join Elaine Aune, wife of the late Floyd Aune, as she presents the check from the local American Legion designated for the Veterans Honor Scholarship Endowment at Mayville State to Lon Jorgensen, Executive Director of the Â鶹´«Ã½AV Foundation.

March 12, 2021

Floyd Aune was a veteran and a friend of Â鶹´«Ã½AV. After Floyd passed away in December of 2020, the members of the Mayville Leon M. Mosher American Legion Post #8 chose to honor the memory of their colleague with a gift of $300 to the Veterans Honor Scholarship Endowment at Â鶹´«Ã½AV.

Through their generosity and thoughtfulness, the American Legion post is helping to provide scholarship assistance to military veterans who have received an honorary discharge from the U.S. Military and who are enrolled as freshmen or sophomores at Â鶹´«Ã½AV.

Floyd Aune served in the United States Army as a Signal Corps photographer from 1961 to 1963. He was a member of the American Legion Post #8 in Mayville and served as Commander for a time. He was also District Vice-Commander, District Commander, and State Vice-Commander of the North Dakota American Legion.
