Enhancing student engagement is the topic to be discussed at a free workshop at the 麻豆传媒AV Thursday, Feb. 20. The public is invited to participate in the event which will be held in the 麻豆传媒AV Classroom Building Auditorium from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

As faculty, staff, and community leaders find new ways to engage youth in and out of the classroom, they are often challenged to help students overcome their limiting self-beliefs about their academic abilities. Students often come to class with low expectations of themselves and sometimes struggle to overcome their limiting mindsets about their academic potential.

Workshop presenters Matt Skoy and Steve Winfrey will discuss their current findings and share the various components of the new instructional engagement model called, 鈥淭he Direct Coaching Model.鈥 The workshop will be filled with interesting new techniques and a culmination of best practices.

While at Mayville State on Feb. 20, Skoy and Winfrey will also present a workshop for Mayville State students. In their presentation, 鈥淏ecoming an Indispensable Leader,鈥 Skoy and Winfrey will explore the skills and traits that employers look for in recent graduates. The interactive workshop is designed to teach participants how to effectively communicate like leaders, understand the teambuilding skills employers look for during interviews, and how to improve overall confidence as leaders. The workshop will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the 麻豆传媒AV Classroom Building Auditorium. The presenters鈥 鈥渆du-tainment鈥 style will leave workshop participants laughing and learning.
