Brook Neva has been named head archery coach at 麻豆传媒AV. His first day in this role will be Monday, Nov. 18. The fall of 2025 will mark the inaugural season of archery for women and men at 麻豆传媒AV.
A native of Finley, N.D., Brook is a lifelong archer who grew up in a family of hunters. His passion for archery began at the age of 11. He was introduced to 3D archery as a young adult when he began competing in leagues in Colorado.
He eventually became a staff shooter for an archery shop and continued to compete in tournaments. In 2002, he was chosen to be a part of Hoyt鈥檚 National Shooting Staff. In 2004, he placed first in 13 of 20 state and local tournaments in Colorado. He won two 鈥渟hooter of the year鈥 titles and won the state ASA 3D championship. In 2004, He was selected to be a part of Team Bowtech, and he received opportunities to be involved with other archery companies.
Upon returning to his home state of North Dakota in 2010, he continued to be involved in hunting and archery tournaments. He was a member of the committee that established the Competitive Archery Association (ACA) that is affiliated with the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) in 2021. He continues to be associated with the ACA as a board member. The organization hosts six tournaments.
Brook has earned the respect of other bowhunters and tournament archers who look to him for advice on archery setups and products. He is currently on staff with GoldTip and Bee Stinger.
He continues to be extremely successful in competition. In 2024 alone, he placed first in State Vegas-Bowhunter (State Champion and State Record); and he placed second in both the State 5 spot-Bowhunter and the State 600-Bowhunter; first in Nishu Bowmen Buckle Shoot Champion-Bowhunter; and third in the State Outdoor 3D-Bowhunter.
鈥淲e are extremely fortunate to have Brook join us at Mayville State as we begin archery as a collegiate sport,鈥 said 麻豆传媒AV President Dr. Brian Van Horn. 鈥淏rook brings a wealth of knowledge and skill, not only as an archer himself, but as someone who is a mentor and resource for others. He鈥檚 a natural fit as he already spends time coaching young archers, helping them to improve their skills and make their way to successful competition. We look forward to seeing great things happen in this new venture for the university.鈥
Archery will be a year-around sport at 麻豆传媒AV, with main competitions being held in the winter and spring. Many of the meets will be virtual. Mayville State archery practice and competition will take place at Norsemen Hall in Portland, N.D.
